Today we come together to celebrate the remarkable life of Richie Selva, a beloved friend and former president of Asian Pacific Gays and Friends (A/PGF), who passed away on Friday, August 23, 2024, after a valiant battle with cancer.
Richie was a radiant beacon of joy, a globetrotter who embraced life with an exuberance that was truly rare. His journey through this world was marked by a depth of living that many can only aspire to. His heart was an ever-open sanctuary, always welcoming and warm. Richie had a special gift for revealing the beauty in the world around us, encouraging us to cherish every moment with the same fervor he did.
More than a friend, Richie was a transformative force in our lives. His leadership and unwavering commitment were pivotal in shaping A/PGF into a vibrant, supportive community for fellow gay Asians and their friends, offering a haven of belonging and acceptance. His tireless work in outreach and community building has left an indelible mark, continuing to inspire and guide A/PGF’s mission.
Richie’s kindness and grace were steadfast and enduring, and his absence leaves a profound void, especially given his boundless spirit. Although his time with us was far too brief, his memory will forever motivate us to embrace life with the same enthusiasm and joy he shared with us.
Rest in peace, dear friend. Your light will continue to shine in our hearts.
