Synopsis.
 
Inspired by the shooting at "Star Dance" dance studio in Monterey Park on the eve of Chinese New Year 2023, this controversial play tells the story of the hours before the horrific incident. The play does not intend to humanize the senseless shooter, but rather to show us the issues of mental health.
 
This play revolves around a man who has been down on his luck ever since moving to the US from Asia until he met his long lost first love at a Chinese New year's Eve party. As they reunite that evening, memories and feelings emerge; anger, sadness and disappointment. The play lets you eavesdrop on the couple's life struggles as they reconnect; intriguing the audience to the possible clues and hints interjected between the lines until the inevitable happens. As the night progresses, which do you hear first, Bells or Bangs?
